Torrent Tree Frog
Litoria nannotis
This unusual tree frog spends its life amongst boulders of the fast flowing creeks of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, where it can usually only be found at night. As well as possessing a gorgeous eye, this frog’s skin is highly granular (bumpy), possibly helping to maintain a firm grip on its slippery habitat. These frogs declined markedly in the 80’s, likely as a result of infection caused by chytrid fungus.
