Mertens' Water Monitor

We could never have planned for this shot; it was purely a result of spending hours in the water. Etienne spotted this Mertens’ water monitor swimming towards him from underneath a deep, dark creek bank. There was so little natural light that the lizard was just visible, underwater strobe lights helped bring out the lizard's fine details.
