Golden Bowerbird
Prionodura newtoniana
One of Australia’s rarest, restricted, and most revered birds is the golden bowerbird. They are confined to high peaks of Queensland’s Wet Tropics, inhabiting dense rainforest. This bird is a male, busily decorating his huge bower with beautiful flowers to attract females. An image from this series appeared in a climate change report sent to the 2015 Paris Climate Conference to highlight the extinction risk for tropical species dwelling at high elevations.
