The Mighty Adelaide River

The mighty Adelaide River flows year-round, draining a vast area of over 7,500 square kilometers, eventually wending its way through the parched landscape during the ‘build up’ on its inexorable approach to the ocean. These waters are a lifeblood for wildlife, and sustain a narrow strip of riparian forest filled with fruiting trees—remnants from a time when the Top End experienced a more consistently wet climate.
