One of Etienne's earliest birding memories is admiring a piece of artwork depicting a Great Grey Shrike impaling a mouse onto a thorn bush. Whilst it isn't a shrike, this Pearl-Spotted Owlet has caught and impaled a gerbil (unknown sp.), instantly bringing back that memory! Spotted in the northern Okavango Delta, Botswana.
