Short-beaked Echidna

The determined stride of an echidna as it crosses a sandstone gorge en route back to it's daytime lair, a cool, humid cave. Echidnas are rarely seeing during daylight hours in the Top End owing to their sensitivity to heat, the exception comes mid year as overnight temperatures plummet in the high stone country.
