Perplexing Dragon
Diporiphora perplexa
This tough guy was strutting his stuff in the late afternoon on an escarpment near Timber Creek, he belongs to a newly described species Diporiphora perplexa, the name reflecting the previously long-standing confusion around its taxonomy and relatedness to other Diporiphora lizards. The posturing and bright colours serve to signal a territorial claim to other male lizards and to attract females.
