Mary River Turtle

Elusor macrurus
 
This is the iconic Mary River turtle, of 'punk rock' and 'bum breathing' fame. These huge, unique freshwater turtles are sadly endangered and live in aquatic habitats that are difficult for humans to explore, as a result few people ever see this species underwater. This image was the result of three weeks of free diving throughout the Mary River catchment.
