Macleay's Water Snake

This species lives an almost entirely aquatic lifestyle, inhabiting shallow creeks, swamps, deep plunge pools, and everything in between. This individual was photographed traversing a cascade on its way into a deeper pool. The habits of these snakes ensure that they are rarely seen, lucky people catch glimpses as they migrate between water bodies or when snorkelling at a local swimming hole.
