Arafura file snake

We got onto some Arafura file snakes (Acrochordus arafurae) last weekend, allowing me for the first time to photograph the species under water. This image shows a snake descending after emerging in front of us in a deep plunge pool for a breath of air. This species reaches huge sizes, one individual we found at night was close to 2m in length and thicker than my arms. The looseness and file like properties of these snakes skin helps them to grasp slippery prey underwater.
