Green tree python
Another Far North Queensland snake, a Green python. In 2015 when I was living in Cairns a good friend and I had a few days open and decided to get up to the Iron Range and do some exploring, we set off from Cairns around 6am and arrived in the national park around 9pm that night - several river crossings later! We pretty much set up camp and then happened on this gorgeous snake, one of our main target species in the area! We could scarcely beleive our luck. In Australia Green pythons are only found in the most northern rainforests pf the Cape York Peninsula, occupying a very small geographical area. They also occur on the islands of New Guinea.
